“I couldn’t say no!”

Many of you may recognise Cynthia Palmer as the Mayor of Malvern. Cynthia is in her third term as Mayor and each year Cynthia sets herself the challenge of raising as much money as possible for a chosen charity.
Cynthia told us:
“My introduction to the Worcester City Run came through a phone call! My charity this year is Sight Concern and this is where the telephone call comes in. I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration four years ago and this means that I am slowly losing my sight. Currently my sight is good in daylight but very poor in shade and at nighttime.
The phone call was from Sight Concern asking if I would like to do the Worcester City Run with Shirley Sheridan, the wife of the Chairman, who has been living with sight loss for many years.
Shirley is an amazing example of how to be positive about sight loss and so I couldn’t say no!”
Cynthia expects to take her time around the 10K course on September 16th, commenting:
“Naturally you won’t see Shirley and myself dashing around the course but we will be there and we will feel as proud as everyone else when we cross the finishing line!”
