Jane Edwards experience of this year’s Worcester City Run 10K is a family affair. She will be joined by her brother David and sisters Sue and Helen, who together have an impressive combined age of 251!
Retired Nurse Jane, 65, was inspired to run for the Samaritans and tells us:
“My husband Pete is a Samaritan, and I have been interested in supporting them for some time. Last year 2 other family members ran the Worcester Run to gain sponsorship for the Worcester Samaritans. My husband is now the Treasurer for the Branch, and I am involved as the Fundraising coordinator, so we wanted to increase the number of runners, and hopefully gain £2,000.00 sponsorship. We currently have 11 runners, but would welcome more!”
Jane will be joined on the day by three of her 7 siblings: David (68), Sue (60) and Helen (58) as well as her youngest son Chris and brother-in-law Dave who are also running for Samaritans. Jane told us “We generally try to support each other in various activities, so 3 of them have agreed to do the run. One of the sisters has run marathons x 2, the other 3 of us are novices!”
“Samaritans is a fantastic organisation, and everyone involved works voluntarily, providing 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, support to people distressed, despairing or suicidal. Fundraising is vital as they have no government funding, and need to raise every penny to cover the costs of running the service.”
Events of the North would like to wish Jane and her family the very best of luck with their fundraising and a fantastic run in Worcester!
