My name’s Katie, I live in Worcester, spend my days working in software testing but in the evenings and weekends you will mostly find me running. I started attempting to run in 2012 between lampposts but with little experience or knowledge I quickly ended up with a stress fracture and on crutches! Fast forward to 2014 and I started putting one foot in front of the other again, a little slower and a little more successfully. I completed my first half marathon in 2015, took part in my first Worcester City 10k and entered a few other local races. The Worcester City Run became a super important race in the calendar and I LOVED running it each year alongside my friends and family, with the most beautiful route along the river and with the very best crowds cheering. It quickly turned into a little race between me and my expert running Dad and so far I have been completely unsuccessful in winning the Worcester City Run Dad vs Daughter Championship…! In 2018 I entered and completed my first ultra-marathon where I found a love of running along trails and long distance footpaths with a snack or two in hand. This love of running turned into my most fun year yet of running in 2019 where I completed my first marathon and 4 ultra-marathons, not forgetting the Worcester City 10k! This year I have been SUPER lucky to get a ballot place in the iconic London Marathon (along with my dad), so my focus and training is fully on getting to the start line on the 26th April as strong as possible. Following the London Marathon, I’ll be turning my attention to training for the Worcester City Run and seeing if my little legs may just be able to beat my dad to that finish line in 2020. I’ll keep you updated on my training as we get closer to September and I’ll look forward to seeing you out running 😊
